Typically, when dealing with most business services, you are tied down with monthly service fees that you are forced to pay if you want to continue to use their services regardless of how often you use it, but the brains behind FaxIt Nice threw away that archaic business concept and let their customers pay for only the services they want to use. For those who work with a variety of file types, FaxIt Nice gives you the ability to send MS Office, PDF, TIFF, OpenOffice v2.3, RTF, HTML and plain text file types as faxes to any internet fax or standard fax number of your choice.
In addition to web-based faxing and email attachment forms of sending an internet fax, they've expanded their domain to let users download a free and easy to use Windows desktop application called Faxtastic. This program allows the user to send and receive faxes straight from their desktop, and also provides a way to securely purchase extra FaxIt Nice fax credit secured by a Secured Socket Layer (SSL) connection. Although there are other Windows desktop applications that enable the use of FaxIt Nice services, Faxtastic is the only one officially approved by FaxIt Nice to handle secure credit card transactions from the fax application itself.
Available Plans
Whether you are the type of customer who wants to convert a few faxes into emails and does not want to be hassled with signing up for a structured service, or you are the type who needs to do a lot on a budget, FaxIt Nice can satisfy any needs with three available plan types: FaxIt Once, Sending Only and Sending and Receiving.
FaxIt Once: Fax up to 10 pages within Canada & the United States for $4.99. Just select which country you want to send it to, type in the fax number, and what file you want to send to the number. Then, select your payment type (PayPal or credit card), and you are good to go. No sign up is needed.
Sending Only: You have the option of buying FaxIt Credit in increments of $20 that never expire, which are used towards faxes sent and received on an $0.18 pay-per-page basis within North America. FaxIt Nice also offers low international rates, no setup fee, and no additional monthly fee- you only pay for what you use.
Sending and Receiving: In this plan, you will get your own toll free fax number, you are given a set number of free faxes depending on the plan you choose, you are guaranteed secure delivery and storage of your fax, and there are three plans to choose from that let you decide how little or how much of this monthly service you wish to use: The Prepaid Basic, Prepaid Premium and FaxIt Elite.

Online Interface
After signing up for a service and logging in, the interface is extremely simple to navigate around and works similar to a regular email account. We opted for the Prepaid Basic package for our test. You have the choice of going to your Inbox, where your incoming faxes are stored, your Outbox, where your sent faxes are stored, or your Junk box, where all of the reported Junk mail gets stored.
Both your inbox and outbox list your received and sent faxes by date, showing you the fax number it was received from or sent to, the number of pages, and an option to delete the fax from the box itself. Your inbox also has the option to download the fax again to your computer or to mark and report the fax as junk to be reviewed by FaxIt Nice staff for credit. The Outbox gives you detailed information about the status of your orders if you click on the order number, where you can see exactly when the fax was sent, the number of attempts it took to send (it will retry up to three times), and the details of the fax itself.
You can also send a fax to anywhere around the world with the ease of using simple point-and-click text boxes and the dropdown interface. It also tells you what your fax number is, what your FaxIt Credit balance is and how many free pages you have left. All of this information is conveniently located on one page.
Sending a Fax
In order to send a fax, you must be logged in. Once you are logged in, the "Send A Fax" option will be to the right of the screen. You can either send your fax to a new recipient or to an existing one. If you are going to send it to an existing one, then you'll click on the "To" dropdown box and select the recipient of your choice that you had saved to your address book in the past. Once done, you can type in the name of the fax in the "subject" text box and put in any additional comments for the cover page in the "comments" text box. Then select your file, and check in the boxes whether you want to FaxIt Quick (which skips the confirmation and preview pages) or disable the cover page.
If you are sending a fax to a new recipient, select "- New Recipient -" in the "To" box. Next, select the country that you want to send your fax to in the "Country receiving the fax" dropdown menu, type in the fax number that you want to send it to in the "Fax number" box. Finally, select the file that you want to send by pressing the "Browse" button.
Once your have placed your order, a confirmation page will appear (unless you disabled it by checking the FaxIt Quick option) and you will be able to download the fax before it is sent. You will also be given a detailed breakdown of any fees that will be debited from your account.
Finally, faxes can of course be easily sent via email by sending the fax as an attachment to [faxnumber]@faxitnice.com. The text you enter as the Subject of the email will become the header for the fax, and the body will become the comments on the cover letter. FaxIt Nice supports an unlimited number of attachments to be sent, as long as the total amount of pages doesn't exceed 100. Once sent, you will receive a detailed confirmation emailed back notifying you of the results.
Account Center
The account center tab is the one place you can use to change everything that pertains to your account.
The "personal info" box in the upper left hand box lets you change the account holder's name, the company name, the phone and fax number (for the profile, not the service fax number) and the account holder's email address.
The "sending preferences" option in the upper middle box lets you change the default behavior of the account. You can check the Prefer Faxit Quick to skip previewing the fax and asking about the information on the cover page, and/or check the disable automatic cover page to do just that. You can also enter the list of email addresses that are authorized to send faxes from your number and even authorize an entire domain, which is usedful for larger businesses that have email accounts under their own domain.
The "receiving preferences" in the upper right box lets you establish which email addresses should receive copies of incoming faxes sent to your fax number. It also lets you set your CSID (or Fax ID) which is the name that your fax number identifies itself as (usually the company or department name).
The "purchase FaxIt Credit" option in the middle right box allows you to purchase as little or as much credit as you need, and if you purchase $30 or more in credit, additional credit is added to your account for free. For instance, if you buy $30 in credit, you will receive a bonus of $2.25 for free. You can use either a PayPal account or credit card to purchase the FaxIt Credit.
The "FaxIt Transaction" option in the center box keeps track of your transaction and credit history. The "view billing information" in the middle right box lets you do as the box states. If you are using a PayPal account as your funding source, this page will simply state that.
The "change billing information" option lets you update the street address, city, state and zip code for your billing address. If you are using a credit card, then you can update the first and last name, the credit card name, the expiration date and the card's verification code.
The "change password" option in the bottom middle gives you the option of changing your current password to a new one by entering your old password first. Then, underneath it, type in your new password underneath the two boxes labeled "New password" and "Repeat Password."
Underneath the eight options, you may choose to stop receiving faxes by entering your password and/or tell a friend about FaxIt Nice services. If they sign up for the services and put you as the person who notified them about FaxIt Nice, then you'll receive a 10% bonus in FaxIt-credit applied to your account.
Support
FaxIt Nice offers an extensive FAQ that is filled with 25 of the most common asked questions. If that doesn't help, they offer a live support hotline in which operators are standing by during regular business hours. There is also an easy to use support ticket system that is a direct link to their support desk and can provide a log of all your communications with the company through open and closed ticket tracking.

I've only needed to send faxes now and then-for job applications, banking forms, etc. I've had my account for several years and had no problems logging in when I need it. The rate is excellent and convenience can't be beat. I haven't used it for sending and receiving or higher volume as needed by business operations, but for an individual, tops over Kinkos any day.
I don't send or receive many faxes. When I do, they're important. Faxitnice's pay as you go plan seemed perfect for me.
Until I tried to send a fax to a bank in New Zealand. It would not go through. I was sure I had the number correct... but the error messages were unclear. I tried variations (like adding zeros before NZ's single digit area codes)... nothing. Out of options, I used their internal system to send a support request.
After a more than a week without a response, I went to Kinko's where it faxed perfectly on the first try (for $10.00!).
I came directly home and created a new Faxitnice support ticket requesting a full refund, since their service did not work as advertised and no one was available to get it working.
Two weeks later (today) the ticket was closed with no comments whatsoever. No information on what was refunded. No apologies for wasting my time. Just the line "Ticket closed by declanshanaghy".
The folks at Faxitnice have no concern for the parts of their service that aren't functioning properly or their paying customers that depend on that functionality.
I am the owner of a small, retail business. Each month, we need to bill for services by some means other than electronic processing. FaxIt Nice provides our business, the ease and simplicity required for low volume faxing of documents. I have not had the need to contact customer support so i do not have a valid rating for this service. That said, it may validate the ease and reliability of this faxing service.
I used to be a big fan of this service, but lately it has not become unreliable. Even when I double and triple check that the fax number is working, I don't get through on FaxItNice. More disturbing, however, is the unresponsiveness of customer service. A support ticket was just closed several weeks after being opened, without ever having a response from FaxItNice.
FaxItNice is the perfect solution for me since 2005. Of course there had been times when I urgently had to send a fax but FaxItNice didn't work and I had to go to Kinko's. But these times were rare and overall it is the best computer fax solution as far as I found out. I even can receive faxes from Europe, which is very important to me. It is also easy to change the fax header, so my wife and I can use it to fax a resume for example.
Keep this good work up FaxItNice!
Love this service practical and reliable and cheap

I only have to fax insurance claims once a month or so and this service is perfect for that. Easy to use and no hastle makes it friendly and the only stress I have with the submissions is on the Insurance Company side.
Seriously, this works perfectly for my needs. I don't have to deal with equipment or connections other than my web connection. Go to the page, login upload your files and presto. A notice is sent when the fax is successfully transmitted. Very easy and very reliable ... THANKS FOR ASKING!
Usually great, but when things go wrong, support i

We have used FaxItNice for about 6 months. We use them only for sending faxes. We've sent more than 2500 faxes in this time.
Easy of use is there. Web interface is pretty good.
Problem for us is service reliablity. Our business relies on these faxes being delivered. In the last 4 weeks, their service has gone down more times than I can count - resulting in faxes not being delivered and my staff scrambling to send them manually by other means. Sometimes when they come back online they spit out all the faxes that failed and sometimes they're just lost forever.
It appears that they only have one support person - he's really nice, but he can't possibly keep up with everything and when something goes wrong, it can take a week ore more to get a reply.
I used to be very happy, but the lack of reliablity is forcing us to switch to a different solution.
I have been using FaxIt Nice for about a year now and it is awesome! Before I commited to FaxIt Nice I tried most of the other services but FaxIt Nice is the best.
This interface is nicer than most of the competitors and the option to have a client install or a web interface is great. One huge benefit of FaxIt Nice over several of the major competitors is that when you submit a fax to be sent they send it right then. I know this sounds like a lame plus, but it seems that most competitors queue up faxes or something and they don't get delivered for an hour or so.
Well and FaxIt Nice is also less expensive than a lot of the competition which is great too!
I've been using FaxIt Nice for 2 years now....at first it met my needs and was a reliable way to send out my 5-10 faxes per year. The price was also reasonable.
However, something's changed for this system. I've needed to reset my password, every day (that I try to log in) for the last 2 weeks. Annoying...Nope, I did not forget my password. Nope, I did not mistype it. I've sent emails to the support department complaining, and each instance resulted in the problem getting resolved. YEP! I updated my profile and reset to the same old password I was using previously.
But, I'm frustrated, and fed up! I need this system to work for me, not be an impediment to getting my work done. So, I'm done. Gonna go try another system on the web.
I have been using many different kinds of e-fax and now ended up with fax it Nice. Thought the value was great and it was just about right amount of free monthly pages and monthly charges. But when I kept on missing some faxes that sent to me, I realized there is almost no customer service. First, it's so hard to find a way to communicate with the customer service information. Second, I reported the problem more than a month ago and I just got an email saying that ticket resolved. Third, in that email, it didn't explain what the problem was and if it was actually resolved. If anyone has better idea how to reach the company, please let me know. Other than that, it is so easy to use and convenient than three other sites I used.
Faxitnice is good if you need to send a couple of low-quality faxes every once in a while, because it's one of the only places that lets you send without signing up for a monthly fee. Their customer service is good, and involves actual people, not call centers or machines.
That said, I have decided to look for another fax service, because I only send faxes when they're important and time-critical. I tried faxing an important and time-critical 11 page document through Faxitnice, only to receive it in the regular postal mail a few days later with a "Please mail us this document, as the fax is unreadable" note attached. Sure enough, the faxes were unreadable, so severely downgraded in quality by Faxitnice that they couldn't be read without extreme effort. They were what a dot-matrix printer that was running out of ink would print, or worse. In addition to making me look bad, I lost more than a week of productivity and missed a deadline due to that incident. I had no warning that they would downgrade like this, and I had scanned in high-quality TIFF images to be sent.
When I complained about this, they did refund my money, so they are at least that honest.
One other issue is their servers are frequently down. Sending 11 pages took me nearly an hour through their web interface, because it was so agonizingly slow and would frequently reset without having sent the document. Sending through email is little better. Although convenient, my faxes through email failed more often than they succeeded, charging me for trying in the process.
I'm currently signed up with Faxage, which has a low (~$5 a month) monthly fee, with per-page charges, and am happier with the quality and interface so far. That said, if your faxes aren't critical time wise or quality wise, Faxitnice is a great service for occasional faxing online, with good customer support.
I use Fax It Nice for personal and business purposes with the prepaid option, and I have consulting clients that use it on the monthly accounts. It works great for everyone, both for sending and receiving. I've also setup software for clients that automatically routes their outbound faxes through Fax It Nice, saving them thousands over their previous vendor.
I have been in touch with Fax It Nice's excellent support staff several times, and they have always resolved my concerns promptly. They even were willing to work with me on an ongoing basis to help get software development projects off the ground.
Cheers to you, Fax It Nice! Keep the good times rolling!
I was looking forever for a service that let me receive or send faxes maybe two or three times a year--that's all I need. I hate fax technology, and only use it when there is absolutely no other option. Finding FaxItNice was a God-send, and was especially helpful last year when I had to deal with medical companies and insurance.
I get my own permanent toll-free fax number (I never dreamt that a service could do this for me without charging monthly fees), so I can receive faxes whenever I need to. With receiving by fax-to-e-mail, and sending by PDF- or Word-to-fax, I have finally escaped the clutch of fax machines. For my low volume usages, the prices are a steal.
In fact, I'm so low volume that the most faxes I receive are wrong-address faxes. I marked these as "junk," since there was no other way to mark them. A couple of them were rejected (meaning I was going to be charged for them). However, when I e-mailed customer support, they were very reasonable and conceded to not charge me for these. I give them a 10 for their understanding response.
The only problem with this service is that their website is very slow. Because I'm a low volume user, this isn't a big deal, but it would be a concern for higher volume users.
I looked at a bunch of services and they all seem to want to make their money either by having you pay a recurring monthly fee, or by having your credit expire on you. Right off the bat, that was hugely annoying. I send 3 faxes or so a year, so that pricing structure doesn't work for me.
Faxitnice is different. You buy credit. It doesn't expire. You only get charged when you use it. The service is rock solid (I've never had an availability problem), and the customer support is amazing.
They have a ton of different ways of sending a fax. I'm on a Mac, so the desktop software is out, but their online and e-mail setups work perfectly.
I once sent a fax that looked like it went through just fine. The next day, I had an e-mail from faxitnice apologizing saying that they had a technical problem, that they had re-sent my fax, but it was delayed a couple of hours past when I thought it was sent. They could have just pretended that nothing happened, but they contacted me to let me know there was a problem. You just don't see that level of customer service anywhere.
I have the "send-only" plan from FaxItNice, and I have been very pleased over all. I very rarely need to send a fax, and it's nice to have a pre-paid pay-as-you-go service instead of having to pay monthly fees for a service I rarely use.
The only way to send faxes without having a fax ma

Faxit Nice is extremely useful. I like the fact that you can send a fax by email which is my preferred method..............but you can also go online and send a fax. I have not tried their installed software because it was not Vista compatible when I tried to install it on my PC a year ago. The software now seems to be Vista compatible.
I'm highly satisfied with this wonderful gem of a company. I found it when I was desperately trying to fax a few pages and my computer's own fax program was so messed up that I just gave up. With Faxtastic, it's even better. I'm able to fax a document quickly and without a hitch.
The only suggestion I can think of is more control over the coverpage. Other than that, it's nice to fax!
I have been quite happy with the service so far but there have been unexpected issues. I use the email method for my broadcast faxing and there have been a few instances of the fax failing and no notification was sent to me. I would like to be able to send in colour pdf's and have them sent out faster than converting it to tiff format. My biggest complaint is lack of 24/7 follow up on problems and support. Also I would like to have an invoice of purchases sent out (via email would be nice) after a purchase of credit.
Overall I do like the service and so far I have had no complaints from my customers. Keep doing the good stuff and work on the rest; well done.
I have found that I need to send a fax only once in a great while -- but when this situation occurs, I don't want to have to take a trip to a business just to send 1 fax. The Fax It Nice "Sending Only" option is perfect for me. I had a little trouble navigating the web site at first, mostly because I was in a hurry to send my fax and didn't quite get how it worked. But when I asked for help, the response I got was very helpful. They forgave my initial mistakes, and my account is now set up the way I want it.
Overall good except reliability. I have had people try to fax me things for days without success. That is extremely frustrating. My favorite feature is the "pay by fax" payment plan. I only get a fax every few months and this is the most cost effective plan on the internet and the reason I chose it.
i started with faxitnice in tampa bay. and really liked it. we have no land line in sc. without it, dr's offices, insurance companies, realtors, and other businesses, would be days away instead of minutes. thank-you faxit NICE.
FaxIt Nice has been perfect for my needs. I don't send faxes very often, but occasionally, I need to. I have a VOIP phone and no analog phone line, so I have nothing that I can hook a fax machine to. It isn't worth paying for an analog phone line for as infrequently as I send a fax. With FaxIt Nice, I can send my occasional faxes for a fraction of the cost of a having an analog phone line.
I am thrilled with FaxIt Nice. I spent a lot of time and money on computer fax hardware which I never got to work. A lot of money, time and effort wasted for someone who faxes so little they haven't used up their original deposit from May 07. I have no need to receive faxes and appreciate not having to pay a monthly fee for the privelege of sending a total of 34 faxes.
Sending faxes thru email is extremely simple. There have been a few times when faxes failed because of system problems, but the service was restored quickly and support responded personally and without delay to my inquiries with forthright explanation. If you make a mistake in the the number you are sending to, you can resend the fax without being charged again.
It is true that you have to know how to prepare your document for faxing, but the website has a very good faq covering this and other subjects.
I would and have recommended FaxIt Nice. If I continued to list all the things I am happy about, this note would become tiresome to read.
I am happy to have this opportunity to express my appreciation for this great service.
The PDF conversion is yucky... need to upload as TIFF or GIF.
This is no fun...
Also, I tried to send a FAX late Friday night (about a month ago), and I finally got a status email on Monday morning that it failed. Had I known, I could have made alternate arrangements over the weekend.
Still bit unreliable and buggy to be your only fax

Many times although I get no error messages I find that my faxes are not delivered, also as I am using linux as an operating system and despite faxitnice claims that uses openoffice as a conversion engine I found out that my faxes are not converted correctly especially if I am writting to a non latin alphabet language like my native greek.
It is not bad as an alternative fax service when you don't have the option of a fax-modem or real fax but no substitute of the real thing unfortunately.
